Realization

So I read about Four Square and it sounded pretty neat… Then amigo Steve started using it and it looked pretty cool… So I loaded it and have “checked in” at a couple of places over the last few days… The unfortunate and somewhat sad realizations that I’ve been hit with are that a) no one gives a shit where I am and b) there’s no one that I particularly want to inform of my whereabouts… Sigh… Would’ve been great to have ten years ago though…

So since the start of my most recent bloggin’ hiatus…

Kenzie turned 7… wicked…

Christmas came and went… ’twas good…

The snow (which sucks and I hate) eventually went away… I was happy…

Love-of-my-life Karen and I celebrated our wedding anniversary (#8 – butter statues!!!)

The World Cup happened… everyone here flies flags… this was mine…

The World Cup ended… I was sad…

School ended for the year… “woot” said the kiddos upon successfully completing grade two and senior kindergarten & escaping for the summer…

Which pretty much brings us up to date…

And I’ve just been informed that #8 is actually traditionally bronze or pottery… thanks honey for not making a fuss in front of all those people when I presented you with your statue…

adventure!!! (saturday am)

today love -of-my-life karen has a scrapbooking event… a king-hell 12 hour “crop” extravaganza… i thinks she’s gonna dig it…

as such it’s me and the kiddos for a saturday with dear old dad…

which we’ll start with me taking kenzie to her ballet class while karen stays home with tugboat and get her wonderful array of scappin’ tools organized…

upon kenzie and my return from ballet adventures karen’s going to split for her deal and, weather dependent,  the kids and i are going to go for a lil’ walk in the woods… a “hike” in the most casual and gentle use of the word…

then… and i’m readying myself for this… we’re going to pack ourselves up and head on over to chuck e. cheese’s… a venue that i’ve always considered to be somewhat akin to hell on earth… but y’know… i love ‘em and all… and i want them to be happy… and at noon on a saturday i’m hoping the hellishness may be a bit low key…

after that… given that fact that we’re not leaving chuck’s place until them kiddos beg me to… i’m hoping that they’re going to be wiped right out and will be super ready for super super long naps… at which point i will be super super super ready to chill i reckon..

and during this chill period i’ll have to come up with an afternoon adventure…

i am a civics ignoramus

so one thing that’s become obvious during our return to the motherland is that i am friggin’ in the dark as far as much of the canadian political process goes…

i split after the seventh grade and, while no political scholar, my time in the states has made me pretty comfortable with how the system works down yonder… in canada – not so much… before, during, and after the elections of a week ago i was hearing all sorts of interesting stuff that made little or no sense… throne speech???… confidence vote???… call for elections???… how odd…

so now, feeling pretty silly for not knowing any more at this stage in life… i shall embark on an adventure in canadian civics … luckily i a) find “the politics” interesting… and b) like learning about things… methinks it will all make a little more sense soon…
