so i’ve become a very big fan of the “podcast” since getting my first ipod a while back… i’ve also become a huge fan of the “video podcast” since upgrading to the video version of the ipod this summer… i dig the fact that they’re free, my favorite price, and you can find such a wide array of subject matter… the wild production value variance often makes for lots of added interest as well…

i’ve been poking around and checking out lots of them-there new-fangled video-type ones lately… and as a “musician”, if i can call myself that, i’m really jazzed by some that i’ve found…

the most inspirational thing for me as far as music-creatin’ goes is seeing live music… and the more intimate the setting the better…

that being said… i’m totally into the interface from spinner.com… awesome roster of acts that drop by to play 3 or 4 songs and then do a little mini interview… my fave thus far would be spoon… a band whose praises i have been singing for a while now… and a band who love-of-my-life k and i narrowly missed going to see live a mere two weeks ago… next tour for sure…

anyway… this whole spinner deal has got me pretty jazzed… fun to watch… and inspiring at the same time… methinks a new bushrod song or two are on the way… perhaps an opportunity for some cross-continent collaboration mr. lacey???…

ever since back in the old days… seattle circa 2003… when amigo steve filled me in on the wonderful world of podcasting i’ve checked out a few here and there (including steve’s most excellent a brit abroad (hey… we should fire up the skypes and the miller lites and do another one of those))… i typically do a search every now and then, subscribe to what looks interesting, and check ‘em out for a while… if they’re worth sticking with i do - if not i move on to new horizons… the advent of the video version has made the whole realm even better…

there’s two in particular that are my faves…

smodcast (audio)… kevin smith (stylin’ filmmaker) and scott mosier (stylin’ film producer) ruminate on the mysteries of life and generally bs about whatever comes to mind… i have shot coffee out my nose on more than one occasion during the morning drive to work listening to these… these fellers are up to episode 31 now… if i’d recommend a starter… a smodcast primer, if you will, it’d be episode 9… if you’re easily offended by the coarse language or rather frank talk don’t bother… just noticed that there’s an episode guide on wikipedia…

tiki bar tv (video)… unbelievably cool… responsible for my wanting to go “tiki” once we finish our basement and build a bar… episode list here… personal faves include episode 22 - dry halloween… episode 24 - bunnies… and episode 18 - greeki tiki…

technology is cool… and often makes me giggle…

i hate it when i can’t sleep… every now and then i go through a phase of sleepin’ troubles and it totally throws me off… and as i understand it lotsa folks get truly horrible sleep virtually all the time… no wonder there’s a lot o’ buttheads out and about on a daily basis…

good chance to write a blog entry though… i’d probably do a lot more of these if i wasn’t wranglin’ chilluns all day long…

first and foremost i’d like to give a big ol’ f. you to all the wankers who are inundating my blog with comment spam… i’ve already turned off trackbacks due to some truly ugly crap that was showing up… is the ability for folks to comment the next rather useful feature to die???… i hope not… i’m certainly trying to keep on top of it all with the spam tools i’ve got but golly folks… can’t ya just go eat a weenie and go advertise all yer crap in a little more forthright a manner???…

on a more positive and dowright exciting note i’ll be rejoining my pal steve, guitar playing cohort in spank, for a podcast this eve… this’ll be the second time i’ve been his guest on his most excellent production, a brit abroad… we had a hoot last time so it promises to be a fine evening…

speaking of spank… the band’s getting all worked up into a lather o’ joy about our upcoming gig at the central club in kirkland… or maybe that’s just me… we’ll be playing there on wednesday 11/16… hopefully lots of folks will join us for an evening o’ joy… the last time we were there was for our cd release party and it was too much fun… really… 12 people expired from sheer happiness…

and the family has just passed a milestone of sorts i guess… its been six months since i began my oddysey as a stay-at-home dad… ’s been lotsa fun, presented a few challenges along the way… uh… daily, been more rewarding than i can say, and has thus far proved itself to be a good decision for the family i reckon… i’m compiling my thoughts in a little more detail for a post coming soon…
