so far anyway…
we have arrived home from the chuck e. cheese adventure… the kids had fun and i remembered why i like to stay a minimum of 500 yards away from those joints…
as k was getting ready to depart this morning she said “hey… read your post… you’re kidding, right???”… uh… about what dear???… at which point she explained to me that my brilliant idea that it might be a “slow” time at noon on saturday was perhaps a bit flawed… she figured that this was probably the most busy time of the whole week with all sorts of birthday parties and overall mayhem going down…
she was right… talk about some serious sensory overload… i was quite happy to cash in our boatloads of tickets for some cheap useless crap neat and inexpensively made toys for the kiddos and get the heck outta there…
i shall now attempt to get those kiddos to have a nap… at which point i’ll devise a master plan of rainy-day indoor-based adventures for the afternooon… and perhaps continue the leafs season in xbox360 nhl ‘08…
today love -of-my-life karen has a scrapbooking event… a king-hell 12 hour “crop” extravaganza… i thinks she’s gonna dig it…
as such it’s me and the kiddos for a saturday with dear old dad…
which we’ll start with me taking kenzie to her ballet class while karen stays home with tugboat and get her wonderful array of scappin’ tools organized…
upon kenzie and my return from ballet adventures karen’s going to split for her deal and, weather dependent, the kids and i are going to go for a lil’ walk in the woods… a “hike” in the most casual and gentle use of the word…
then… and i’m readying myself for this… we’re going to pack ourselves up and head on over to chuck e. cheese’s… a venue that i’ve always considered to be somewhat akin to hell on earth… but y’know… i love ‘em and all… and i want them to be happy… and at noon on a saturday i’m hoping the hellishness may be a bit low key…
after that… given that fact that we’re not leaving chuck’s place until them kiddos beg me to… i’m hoping that they’re going to be wiped right out and will be super ready for super super long naps… at which point i will be super super super ready to chill i reckon..
and during this chill period i’ll have to come up with an afternoon adventure…
it’s late/early… i’m hungry… i just found a box of quaker harvest crunch (or croque nature for you back-of-the-box francophiles)… holy cow… it’s like crack… i can’t even imagine it with milk…
now if only i can get the new version of movable type to work…

i like hot stuff… and i put hot sauce on just about everything i eat… and i’ve wanted for some time to make some of my own…
well the opportunity presented itself when my work amigo tony presented me with a big ol’ bag of rippin’ hot habanero peppers…
and here… for posterity… as best as i can remember as i enjoyed a couple of beverages during the process… is the recipe for the pretty darn tasty, pretty darn hot, bushrod’s assrammer deluxe habanero sauce (hot)…
habanero chiles (rippin’ hot)
crushed garlic
colleen’s red pepper jelly
light olive oil
white vinegar
salt
coarsely chop habaneros (i used 15) and saute until soft in some light olive oil along with about 1/4 cup of crushed garlic…
once the peppers are softened up a bit add about 1/2 cup of colleen’s red pepper jelly… colleen’s red pepper jelly will be the hardest ingredient for about 99.9995% of the population to procure as it’s made by colleen, the friend of my other work amigo jen, and is limited to an annual run of a few jars… i reckon one could (and will most likely have to) substitute some other red pepper jelly… anything red, sweet, and not too hot… it’s there for colo(u)r, sugar and flava… there’s plenty of heat coming from the habaneros…
once that heavenly concoction has burbled away for a while… and you’ve lost all of your nose hair whilst casually attempting to smell it… crank the heat up to high and add about 2 cups white vinegar and a couple teaspoons o’ salt… bring to a boil and let it go for about 10 minutes…
remove from heat and let cool… put into a blender and blend on medium until smooth…
there ya have it… eez good… compares well with lots of the “boutique” hot sauces i’ve encountered over the years…

so one of our trepidations in relocationg away from seattle was the thought that we might have trouble finding some sweet sushi restaurants… we were spoiled by a couple of really really good ones there…
well we found a wunnerful lil’ place here called mi.ne sushi… love-of-my-life k and i went there a while ago, sat at the bar and met one of the owners who treated us well and made us a bunch of awesome goodies…
we’ve been back a couple of times… just the two of us… and a couple of times with les chilluns… at this stage of the game i think i prefer the former… hah… i think we’ll maybe keep mi.ne for the parents for now…
when i was looking for a link i came across an article saying that mi.ne had opened a restaurant in hong kong… i don’t know if it’s the same folks but i thought the review pictographs down the page were kinda cool…
so on the ride down highway 404 into Toronto i see a sign… it’s for some sort of soon-to-be-built industrial complex… and the main builder is urbacon… completely weak-ass link i know - whatever… i know it’s all about urban commerce and whatnot but i still read the sign as u r bacon…
