What a drag… less than a week after our pal Miranda left us her long time amiga Mira has also passed away… Miro was cool… the epitome of the cat “I’ll acknowledge you and you can say “hi” and pet me when I damn well please” ethos… she’ll be missed…
An awful week for pets in our house… Koda’s looking over her shoulder and wondering what’s next…

Our cat Miranda passed away today… She was old and she was having issues lately… And as much as I made light of these things, especially lately I dug her a lot and I miss her a bunch..

So it’s the next to last weekend of summer break and it’s raining… and it’s gonna rain all weekend… kinda a bummer but the potential is there for lotsa fun indoor adventures with the kiddos… could be a challenge however because they’re at each others throats constantly these days… it’s definitely time for the school year to start again…
as an aside… the boo, who is six, used the word “penultimate” in a sentence a couple of months ago… I was kinda gobsmacked and rather impressed… I asked her where she learned that word and she said ‘I dunno… I just know it”… she’s used it a few times since too… I like words so I thought that was pretty wicked…
3 days until the Great Holiday Hernia Adventure ’08 (GHHA2K8 ™) begins… not so keen on this am I…
And I can’t sleep…
And it’s cold here… f*$@kin’ cold…
On a more positive note… so as not to be a complete whining biznatch… I’ve been wrestling with the lil’ morsel o’ technology that is our wireless router and trying to allow love-of-my-life Karen’s new work laptop to connect properly… a challenge given the (IMHO) bizarre way that her IT department has set the thing up… well after about three weeks of thinking about it & a couple of days of really going at it success is ours… go team!!!…

Yay!!!… we got a dog… her name’s Koda and she’s pretty darn cool… plus we got her from a Lab Rescue joint so I reckon we’re “saving” her to boot..
I had a dog in high school way back when… for the last twenty-plus years I’ve been fondly remembering those days and wanting to have another but haven’t been able to for a variety of reasons… until now…
Hey you Wheelers!!!
I love you guys!!! Thanks so much for sending flowers to the Boo for her ballet recital – she was super excited and I think that was just the most awsomest thing to do ever.
Sorry it’s been so long since we talked in person – I shall endeavo(u)r to give y’all a ringy-dingy this weekend to say howdy. And talk about interesting topics. Like soup.
love-of-my-life karen just shared this vintage pic from the stay-at-home dad days… made me laugh…

the one i call tugboat sure likes trains… this makes me happy… because i like trains too… trains are cool… and furthermore, his granddad has been a train fan for a long time too…
being as he’s three and we live in a constant storm of marketing and commercialization seb not only likes “trains” in the bigger sense… he specifically likes thomas… the tank engine… you may have heard of him if you have a young child…
we own a vast array of thomas the tank engine product tie-in marketing crap products and toys… the most favourite-est and longest lasting on the interest-meter is a neato wooden set… wooden tracks in all different sizes and configurations that you can make your own layout with… sebby is mad for this stuff and i think it’s pretty great too…
so a while ago i got a smokin’ 70% off-ish deal at toys ‘r’ us on a little table that was made to build these tracks upon… it’s painted all nice and has a drawer for the extra pieces… the only issue is that it’s about 3′ x 4′ and given the sheer volume of track that we have it was woefully undersized…
enter our recently obsolete dining room table… a most lovely ikea number that has served us well for the last 5 or 6 years… unfortunately it suffered some rather mr. clean magic eraser-proof paint stains a few months back during an exciting craft session… the time had come to find a replacement and love-of-my-life karen had the epiphany that it could and should be the greatest ever toys ‘r’ us train table replacement… so now it is…
amazing what a circular saw can do for moving towards thomas nirvana… next plan is to cover the top with some felt and we should be good to go… it will be a fine addition to the play area in our soon-to-be-finished basement…
everytime a look at this thing, however, i giggle… looks like we’re ready to mack on some sushi…
posting that most lovely and fatherly-pride inducing picture of kenzie’s art reminded me of something i saw on these here very internets a few years ago… i may have wet myself laughing the first time i saw these…
i am better than your kids & more crappy children’s art work
from the best page in the universe… arrrgh matey…
