so the still bass player-less spank had our weekly practice last night… and it was once again friggin’ cool as all get out… guitar player steve played bass again… and sounded great… i shall soon officially change his title to guitar and/or bass player steve i think…

and upon reflection i’m once again amazed and just pleased as can be at how much i get out of getting together to play with them fellers once a week… thanks amigos…

GreenLake Race

so the big ol’ greenlake race was a big success i reckon… la familla came to cheer on dad which was awesome… the weather was breathtakingly beautiful… and i ran faster than i thought i was gonna and beat my goal time…

the event itself was very cool… it was the inaugural event and the company who put it on, promotion events, was expecting 300-350 people… there were 850 or so pre-registered with another 100-150 signing up on the day of the race… pretty great turnout i’d say…

i sure had fun… next up is the half marathon experience… on mercer island at the end of march…

here’s les enfants waiting for me to come trucking by… karen said kenzie cheered for all the runners as they came by which i thought was pretty cute… seb’s all “what you talkin’ ’bout willis?”…

here’s a thought

actually here’s a few… need to blog ‘cuz it’s been too long and these are the things i thought about on the excruciatingly long drive home from dropping the lovely and talented karen off at work this morning…

my favo(u)rite semi-comical insulting term for yahoos i come across is “ass clown”… i dunno where i first heard that but for some reason it resonates with me… matter of fact i’m giggling just thinking about it… i mention this because that’s what i called the person who caused our commute home this morning to take a full hour… and no darlin’… i didn’t say it out loud in front of les enfants… hah…

my band-of-the-moment is death cab for cutie… yes… i’m quite late to the party… and i’m a total band-wagon jumper… but i picked up their new album plans whilst in toronto and was blown away… and have since got their previous release transatlanticism as well as a couple of early ones, something about airplanes, and the photo album… i can’t quite put my finger on why i like ‘em so much but i’m sure glad i finally checked ‘em out…

speaking of bands… the search for spank’s new bass player continues… the last coupla practices we’ve had have been in the power trio type format… the esteemed steve has picked up the bass and as it turns out is really good at it… so we’ve had a hoot but i miss his guitar playin’ so i hope we find a suitable new amigo soon…

i shall share with the internets that i am a fan of the brussels sprouts… so sue me… poor brussels sprouts… the most maligned vegetable as far as i can tell… well i friggin’ adore ‘em…

my new addiction is sudoku… love-of-my-life karen’s mum turned me onto these little gems on our last visit… i’m hooked…

traffic blows… i’m pretty spoiled living without a commute these days… and i know this… when i do need to deal with backups and gridlock as was the case this morning (ass clown) it made me appreciate the fact that i don’t have to deal with it every day…

race #3 is imminent… sunday to be exact… 5k at green lake in seattle… some sorta valentine’s day themed deal… should be fun… i’ve slacked on putting in the miles as i’ve been sick as all get out for the last week… guess that’s not really slacking… but i’m excited to do another race… and i’m already looking ahead to next month and the mercer island half marathon… should be interesting…

and with that i think i shall go enjoy a brussels sprout… or two…

… with nary a blog entry in between…

technology conspired against such things on our journey…

but the trip was good…

k’s sister andrea and her now-hubby chris had an awesome wedding… the chilluns got to hang out with omi… and karen and i were lucky enough to get a couple o’ nights out on the town…

upon our return i have been the beneficiary of a wicked cold… which went away… now is back…

the sun’s shining though… and the kiddies and i are gonna go visit mum at work soon… ’s gonna be a good day methinks…
