was fun…

so as i went to charge my ipod this eve i was greeted with the news that itunes 4.9 is here… and as amigo steve has pointed out the anticipated podcast support is in there…

well good then… steve turned me onto this lil’ power-to-the-peoples world a few months ago and i’m glad its blowing up… i’ve been diggin’ steve’s podcast “a brit abroad”, which i highly recommend, as well as a few others… i think i shall go try it out…

i was lucky enough to be given the new white stripes album “get behind me satan” by my lovely bride for father’s day… must say i dig it a lot… one of my favorite bands of the last few years…

and speakin’ of bands… the mighty spank is playing at a little soiree for our pal deb in a week and a half… i’m jazzed… we have fun at her parties… new tunes are coming along nicely and i’m looking forward to practice on thursday…

and we’ve booked a follow-up gig to our ep release party at the central in downtown kirkland… we’ll be back there on september 21st… fun shall be had… check out the band website for updates… i reckon we’ll try to play another show before the central gig as well…

had a freakin’ amazing band practice on thursday… went back to our old stompin’ grounds in bellevue… evolution studios… ’s good to be back there again and to see our ol’ pal eden… and as an extra treat we got to play in the revered (by me at least) room two… this is where tom w and i met ebo ’round 11 or 12 years ago… and the room rose to the occaision and sprinkled us with magical sound-real-badass pixie dust and we had a fine time indeed… worked on a couple of new tunes that came together fast… i’m jazzed about how we’re writing lotsa stuff these days… i think we’ve got about 6-7 new tunes together in the last two months or so… makes me feel good… i sure love making music and being in a band…

the visit from scott and his son max on friday was very cool… max and kenzie hit it off right away and had all sorts of fun playing… it was great to see scott… ’s been 3 1/2 years since i have and it was good to catch up… and he told me that trash monquis alumnus melanie has now just had her second child… atta girl says i… she’s amazingly cool and i’m glad she’s married and happy and having les chilluns…

and i have now seen “pooh’s heffalump movie” 768 times* … i, for one, am ready to move on… the boo’s not quite ready…

’s shaping up to be a fine weekend… had fun w/ the kiddies today… and we had visitors this afternoon… lotsa kids… mayhem… noise… fun… the usual… was good…

and el steve and i are going to play a little golf in the a.m. … i’m looking forward to that lots… haven’t played in about a year and it’s one of my favorite things to do…

so my ol’ pal scott from days of yore is coming for a visit today with his son max… very cool…

we were both at ohio state studying to be rocket scientists at the same time… and when i first moved to seattle he and i and our buddy tom started the first band i was ever in… the mighty trash monquis… got all kinds of cool memories about that time as i write this…

haven’t seen him for a number of years so it should be a hoot…

six days of my life… figured i should commit a picture to the ages…

cnn had a fine reader’s poll on their website today…

let it be known… if anyone… and i mean anyone… sends me chain-letter emails about anything… and i mean anything… i delete em’… i delete ‘em all… every single one… the buck stops here my friends…

don’t care if they threaten bad luck… that’s b.s. …

don’t care if they’re all warm and fuzzy and promise good luck… that’s b.s. …

i especially don’t care if they promise me money… that’s b.s. too…

oh… this is a good one… “bill gates is going to send you a pile of cash if you forward this email to some friends”… ok… i’ll bite… someone prove to me they got a check from uncle bill…

and don’t ask me to say prayers for folks serving in iraq… i care lots about folks in iraq… a couple of ‘em in particular… and i think about them quite a bit… without emails suggesting that i’m somehow unamerican and not patriotic if i don’t forward them to everyone in my address book…

actually… i’m really really good at deleting them so if it makes you feel good about your chances in this big ol’ game of life then send ‘em on… i’d like everyone to be happy… just make sure your happiness and success aren’t tied to me following their instructions…

so i have this little music room… a place for all my guitars and amps and recording stuff and whatnot…

yesterday i did a little rearranging to better use the space and i uncovered the infamous missing cds from the 2004 version of the big ol’ montana fishing trip…

and that was a pretty friggin’ awesome moment… i’ve been missing a bunch of the greatest stuff from my collection for the last year and now i’m happily reunited with them little gems… i’m listening to a little weezer as i write this… the pixies are next…

wow… which reminds me that it’s almost montana fishing trip time again… myself and the lovely and talented mr. lacey will be sitting out this years trip due to new and impending children respectively… but i think the rest of last year’s crew is going… catch the whoppers fellas… and say hello to the longbranch (and enjoy the pizza)… i shall be thinking about ya…

almost two weeks without a post… too long… but with lotsa guests, limited access to el pc, and a ton of stuff to do… such is life i guess…

and today… life back to normal with our last guest leaving… so it’s time for a long overdue post i reckon…

so what did we do with ourselves for the last week and a half???…

tugboat got baptized… he was a good boy through the whole deal… and now his head smells extra good…

karen’s family was in town for the big event… was good to see them all and i got to meet her sister’s boyfriend chris for the first time… a fine dude methinks…

i replaced the fence from hell… as previously mentioned the presence of k’s mum allowed me to undertake this rather large-ish task… got rid of the old model w/ the help of samantha and dw… 1989’s model i think from the archeological evidence unearthed by dw… and proceeded over the next six days to erect… uh… heh heh… us a brand new version… all said and done it was a pretty fun little adventure and i think it ended up looking good and being pretty solid… having never done this before i’m kinda proud… my grand plans for a photo diary of the whole experience got forgotten until day three or four… i’ll post a picture of the final product for the world to marvel at mah skills…

karen and her mum did an awesome job with a whole bunch of landscaping stuff around the premises… we’re kinda in the process of an overall sprucing-up… and while i’m surprising myself with how much i’m getting into the whole gardening thing i’m super duper impressed with the skills of love-of-my-life karen… she rocks and our yard looks better than it ever has thanks to her efforts…

we had a big ol’ bbq on saturday before seb’s baptism… with k’s family and some of her cohorts from the office there ended up being 10 adults here which was a hoot…

and now its back to our normal routine…
