so i downloaded skype… looking forward to trying it out… being as its past one i reckon maybe right now’s not the time for a test drive…
the brit abroad steve very compassionately pointed out that afforementioned “nut-cast” idea, while a fine opportunity to try out the podcast/skype combo, may come at a time when much laughter could be discouraged… good point… we’ll play it by ear and see how we’re all doin’… me… the boys… the peas…

life’s changin’…
time until i become a full-on stay-at-home dad… five days…
time left as someone who could theoretically further add to the gene pool… 75 1/2 hours…
yep… its true… i’m having the “procedure”… and whereas i’m usually pretty fearless about medical issues i must say as v-day draws closer the rather delicate and uber-personal nature of the undertaking has got me a tad edgy… ah well… getting it done at the best place around and we’ve got a grand assortment of frozen vegetables in the freezer… odds are it’ll be a relative breeze…
el steve and i joked that we should push the pod-casting envelope with a “nut-cast”… taking advantage of a) skype, and b) the relaxation inducing sedatives i’ve been offered and have assured the procedure folks i’m gonna take ‘em up on…

my last post was called “i ‘heart’ karen”… got me thinking about something that kinda tweaks me but i can’t quite put my finger on…
so “i ‘heart’ karen” is a reference to the “i love new york” t-shirts and paraphernalia that gained popularity in… i dunno… early eighties???… late seventies???… “love” is replaced with a big ol’ red heart… genius marketing i suppose… been ripped off by everyone for everything… john lennon wore it best…
quick aside… just felt old… there’s probably a whole slew o’ folks that i deal with on a daily basis that don’t know about the whole “i love ny” deal… much less ever seen the picture of lennon wearing one of the shirts… weird…
quick aside #2… i just remembered seeing an ad in the back of national lampoon magazine in the early eighties… at that time there was a shout-out-to-my-pet bumper sticker craze using the “i ‘heart’” idea… “i love my bull mastiff”… “i love my pomeranian”… etc… well there was a company selling white circular bumper stickers, just the right size, with a picture of a screw on ‘em… that still cracks me up…
ok… asides aside… and speaking of bumper stickers… i’ve seen a few lately that say “i ‘heart’ my wife”…
first take… uh… sure fella… you’re supposed to, non?…
second take… you tell her that in person right???… she doesn’t need to see you driving around in a car… that she’s not in… to get that info…
third take… wtf?!?!?… i love my wife too… why do i think these bumper stickers are so odd???… am i an uncaring twip by not having a “i ‘heart’ my wife” bumper sticker???… i tell karen that i love her every day… several times every day… and when i say it i mean it… its not just some throw-away comment… karen knows i love her and i know she loves me…
so i get up close and look at one of these things and truths are sorta revealed… its made by promise keepers… i’m not “religious” and i don’t know enough about these guys to comment on them… so i won’t…
but they made me look at the friggin’ bumperstickers so they’re free game… and i still can’t quite put my finger on what tweaks me about ‘em… i guess they somehow make me think of a cross between junior high notebook scribblings of “i love janie” and joe mccarthy’s house commitee on unamerican activities… hah…

today is karen’s and my third wedding anniversary… how cool is that???…
i can hardly believe it… on one hand we’ve certainly done a whole bunch of stuff and had loads of adventures and we have kenzie and the ‘boat here so i can look back and see that we’ve been at it for a little while… but on the other hand… man!!!… i can’t believe its been three years already!!!… time has just flown by… i’ve certainly had a blast along the way… insert appropriate “ya know what they say” adage here…
wanna know the best part???… with every day i fall more and more in love with and gain even more respect and admiration for this wonderful lady… dunno how i ever ended up in such a situation but i sure am thankful to be here…

so a week from today will be my last day in the traditional workforce for a while… as i mentioned a few days ago we’re gonna be a stay-at-home-dad type family for a while… and… uh… i’d be that dad…
i think i’ll set up a separate blog to keep track of our adventures… and adventures i’m sure there will be…
i have dipped a toe into the ocean of the online homedad world… looks like there’s some kinda cool sites around… lotsa regional stuff but some good worldwide and national resources too… amigo steve and i were havin’ a chat last weekend and he said if he were gonna embark on such an adventure he’d be the most connected homedad out there… i reckon he’s onto something… i think i’m going to join every website/chat board/support outlet i can find… gonna be a member of a whole new community in a week… might as well find out all i can about it…
